Breaking Barriers: RCET Supports Women’s Education Through Pudhumaipenn Scheme

 A milestone celebration of educational support to girl students in Kanyakumari district


The Expansion of the Pudhumaipenn Scheme of Tamilnadu government  was held at Rohini College of Engineering and Technology on 30/12/2024

The Pudhumaipenn Scheme is an innovative government scheme by the Tamil Nadu government to empower young women with financial assistance. The scheme received a major boost at Rohini College of Engineering and Technology on December 30, 2024. Distinguished by its holistic approach toward the welfare of girl students, all the important dignitaries across the district graced the event to emphasize the importance of this scheme in fostering educational opportunities among young women.


The occasion was graced by the presence of top-notch officials, including Kanyakumari District Collector Mrs. Alagumeena IAS, Minister for Finance and Human Resource Management Mr. Thangam Thennarasu, local MLA Mr. Mano Thankaraj, and leadership of RCET — Principal Dr. R. Rajesh and Vice Principal Prof. Jeyakumar. The inauguration started with a live broadcast from Tuticorin, representing a wide-ranging scheme that was bound to cater to students throughout the region. A pivotal moment of the event was the distribution of debit cards to beneficiary girl students, providing them direct financial assistance to support their educational journey.

RCET is one of the best engineering colleges in Kanyakumari, and its selection as the venue for this expansion speaks to its commitment toward women’s education and empowerment.
