Case Filed Against TVK President Vijay Over Youth Manhandling

MADURAI: The Madurai rural police have registered a case against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay and 10 bouncers in connection with an incident at the party’s state conference held in Parapathi, Madurai, on August 21.

The case was initially filed as a zero FIR by Kunnam police in Perambalur district and later transferred to the Koodakovil police station under Madurai rural police limits on Thursday. Following the transfer, a formal case was registered against Vijay and the bouncers.

According to the complaint, G. Sarathkumar (24), a resident of Periyammapalaiyam in Perambalur, alleged that he sustained internal injuries to his chest and body after being thrown off the ramp by bouncers while Vijay was walking on the stage around 4:30 pm.

The complainant stated that his intention behind lodging the case was to ensure that no one else is subjected to similar treatment in the future. Based on his statement, police registered the case under Sections 189(2), 296(b), and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
